Free Download Ebook Drug Information Handbook: A Practical and Up-to-Date Reference for Drug Safety



The publication Approved Drug Products with Therapeutic Equivalence Evaluations (commonly known as the Orange Book) identifies drug products approved on the basis of safety and effectiveness by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) and related patent and exclusivity information. The Orange Book downloadable data files are updated monthly. The articles contained in the database are entirely based on double-blind, placebo-controlled studies and other forms of meaningful scientific evidence. At present, more than 12,000 such studies are cited in the material, and new studies are added regularly. The evidence-based content has been developed and reviewed by a team of physicians and pharmacologists with the goal of providing consumers with reliable information.


Over-the-counter and prescription drug information, side effect, interactions, storage, dietary warnings, what to do if you forget a dose or in case of suspected overdose, cautions for people who are pregnant or nursing, and more.


There are a variety of free online readers available. Some require registration or a download. Some only require an internet connection to work. All vary depending on the way you want to provide the content.


U.S. government website provides a wealth of information on Medicare health plans, drug coverage, and costs. Offers tools to find whether a test, item, or service is covered and for finding doctors, provider, hospitals, plans, and suppliers. Online forms are provided for applying to the program, replacing a Medicare card, or changing an address.


Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF): State Health FactsProvides free, up-to-date, and easy-to-use health data for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the United States. In some cases, data are available for counties, territories, and other geographies. State Health Facts is comprised of more than 800 health indicators and provides users with the ability to map, rank, trend, and download data.


DailyMedMaintained by the National Library of Medicine, this site provides high quality drug information including FDA approved labels (package inserts). It is designed to supply health information providers and the public with a standard, comprehensive, up-to-date, look-up and download resource of medication content and labeling as found in medication package inserts


Drugs.comA drug information database for consumers and medical professionals, providing information about prescription and over-the-counter medications, treatment notes for specific diseases and conditions, and topical articles and news related to pharmaceuticals


MedScape ReferenceAn online clinical reference providing in-depth drug & disease information and tools to support clinical decision making. Content is designed for practicing medical professionals and includes diagnostic medical images. Free Registration to MedScape is required. To quickly locate information on a disease or condition, try Googling the word emedicine and your disease/condition (i.e. emedicine pertussis). Once you access the article, login for full content.


MD Consult - A collection of electronic information resources designed to meet the clinical content needs of physicians and other health care professionals. MD Consult Core Collection integrates a collection of medical reference books, medical journals, Medline, drug information, practice guidelines, educational handouts, and an online continuing medical education center. PDA tools are also available for download.MEDLINE - Medline abstracts biomedical journal articles from the Medline database of the National Library of Medicine in many languages.


Science Direct - Elsevier ScienceDirect offers the world's scientific, medical and technical information online. It includes over 2,000 peer-reviewed journals, hundreds of book series, handbooks and reference works.
